Okay, first of all, I had to stop reading and Google Epping Forest, and wow! Now I want to visit it... just definitely not at night. 😂
When I got to the part where the gun came out, and even knowing you obviously made it through safely, I got those awful chills of dread. But when you described that sudden sense of calm, I knew exactly what you meant. I had just left a comment on Kevin’s post about this very thing. For me, intuition is always calm. Even when it feels urgent or shows up in the middle of danger, it still feels calm, clear, and loving. That calm is actually how I’ve learned to recognize intuition rather than ego or fear. Fear feels chaotic, anxious, and loud. Intuition may say, “Pay attention,” or “Move now,” but it does not send me into panic.
I found it so interesting that this was the first time you'd realized that the calm you felt that night was your intuition.
What an intense story, C. I’m very grateful all of you made it out of that situation safely. 💜
Thank you so much!! Ha ha I bet you Googled it! It's nice during the day but yep not the place to go at night. There's too many sad and tragic stories that happened there...
I didn't think of it as intuition as to be honest, I had shut this story to the back of my mind for years. It was just so unexpected and I have no idea what happened to him, I just hope he didn't ever do anything like this or worse use it on anyone else. Absolutely crazy situation.
I totally get that. There have been many situations that I look back on now and go hey wait that was intuition or divine guidance, and I didn't recognize it as such back then. I wonder what triggered him... not that it matters, I mean, what was he doing with a gun in the first place! But still such a strong reaction! Something was definitely not right there. I hope whatever it was, he got some help and, like you said, nothing worse ever happened. I'm just so so grateful you were all okay!
It was so out of character the one that he showed me, we had been talking for around a year or so... he was such a different character to the rest of the guys I knew, I remember 2 of my friends had gone to primary school with him. We all hung out with him but he was always seen as our friend's cousin as he wasn't as close as we all were but I thought I knew him pretty well never to suspect or expect anything like that to happen. He never spoke about having a gun or about any fights or anything like that so it made me think what else is he hiding... I think that he had some major issues he probably was hiding and struggling with that something that night snapped. No excuses for his actions but it really still doesn't make sense why he would've reacted this way when nothing was said that was about him or offensive... The anger he displayed clearly expressed something else was going on...
This topic really made me reflect on so many areas that intuition showed up, it's always been easier when I've ignored it to recognise that what it was but I guess in other areas I simply called it another name...
We really never know what someone else is carrying beneath the surface. I hope he ended up getting help for whatever was bothering him. And again, I'm so grateful you listened to your intuition! 💜
Wow that was the most poetic description of intuition and then the story with a twist! definitely took a direction I did not expect !! I've experienced that dead calm in a dangerous situation before and how I automatically knew what to do to de-escalate it, but hadn't thought of it as intuition before. I'm glad you were all ok!!
Thank you so much Melinda! I truly appreciate this! It really was an unexpected experience and to feel calm was not what I ever would've expected myself to act like. If anyone had asked me a hypothetical question about something like this, I would have probably expected myself to freeze in fear and panic.
Wow… such situations I would like to believe I would remain calm, fear could react and act out in do many ways, even aid you to meet your grave. Knowing me, I would have followed the most calmest individual and if that was being you, then I would have followed suit. Great recall on a scary scenario. ✨
Thanks so much LV, it crazy how we really never know how we'd react until the situation arrives, if anyone mentioned this back before it happened, firstly I would never think anyone I knew then would've done that and secondly I'd say I would probably have frozen in fear/shock or tried to convince them to stop just so glad my intuition showed up to guide me!
What a powerful story. I love how you described intuition as something that quietly guides and protects us. I'm so glad no one was hurt. It's scary to think how differently that night could have ended. Thank you for sharing such a personal experience. ❤️
Thank you so much Steena, it was such an unexpected situation, scary how things like this can happen out of what appears like from no where. Thanks for reading & for your kind words ✨️
Wow! What a story. I think so often we thi k about intuition as that uneasy feeling telling us to get out of a situation. I love your take on intution being the calm settling over you. Who knows, if you would have seemed anxious or moved at all, could have set him off. Thank you for sharing
Thank you Stacey for reading and sharing your thoughts ✨️
I agree who knows what could've happened? I'm just so glad we all got out of there unharmed it was totally unexpected as I'd never seen or even heard about him having a gun or totally behaving in any way like this before!
Both your opening and closing cover so much of the territory around intuition, and I think many readers will see themselves in what you've written. Well done, C Simone.
Your story took an unexpected turn for me. I hadn't anticipated that it would lead to this place of calmness. In some ways, I think that's a kind of superpower in moments like that, or in any situation where emotions are running high. To have a place you can go internally that allows you to remain calm and maintain self-control is a remarkable gift.
This happened when you were 17. Do you still find that same sense of calm comes naturally to you in moments of panic or high stress today?
Thinking about that situation, I suppose none of us really knows how we'll react until we're actually faced with it.
Thank you so much for such kind words Mr Keys ☺️ I like that a super power!
This was the first time I experienced feeling calm in such an unexpected crazy situation. The other time was during the night out - the experience of being helped by the stranger. Since then it's been more subtle with the calm feeling e.g. when in London there were too many examples of being in close proximity to people who showed signs of clear mental health issues, you could be on a bus and someone would be screaming at no one there or punching the air etc. In these situations I have felt a subtle calm, some people move away but I remained seated as I knew they were in their own world and had a knowing they wouldn't harm me. In cases where I've felt uneasy when everything has been great, that's more strong for me, I have ignored it at times and always regretted it so now I listen whether it's calm or unease.
There have been times it's a thought like before meeting Isaiah as I mentioned to you hearing "You're going to meet your husband soon." Then we met that same day. And the odd feeling earlier that day of knowing I would go on the London Eye again even though I had no plans too. Well the weekend after I was on it with Isaiah. So over the years I've learnt to listen more to it whether it's a thought that appears from no where or a feeling that doesn't match my reasoning.
Your description of intuition as a presence that patiently waits to be recognized resonated with me, especially after reading the story that followed. There are moments in life when thought simply cannot move as quickly as instinct, and those moments often become the ones we remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you for sharing such a vulnerable experience and for reminding us that sometimes the quietest voice is the one that keeps us safe.
Thank you Monica, this topic really gave me many reflective moments the past couple of weeks. I had been thinking about so many different examples and then this came to me. I realised that the sudden feeling of calm was my intuition. I had never thought of it in this way before and by your prompt and topic it helped me realise this so thank you so much for this!

How absolutely terrifying! Your intuition not only saved you, it saved several other people that night. 💙
It was such an unexpected turn of events and so grateful for my intuition and that I listened to it. Thank you so much for reading Deanne 💜

This is how it happens
An unknown and untold sixth sense
Suddenly erupts and we listen to it
Cannot reason why what and how ??
It happens and happens
That’s all
👍👍👍
I agree, it has its reasons and I trust it without always knowing its reasons. Thank you for reading!

Yes Simone, intuition is often excused as coincidence. Learning to trust it is the best decision ever.
I 100% agree!
